NETWORK OF ENTERTAINING ASIAN AMERICAN TALENT

List of Asians on TV

via victor wong:

Note the expanded list of ‪#‎AAPI‬ guest stars. We’ve been on a bit of a roll in terms of representation. But, IMHO, the networks are failing on the storylines with backstories “whited-out.”

It was a year ago that the dreadful unfunny racist DADSonFOx ended its run on network TV. Long story short, the producers were called on their anti-Chinese jokes but refused to reshoot the pilot. The Fox network doubled down and ordered more episodes in the fall even though ratings were falling. #AAPI groups and activists continued to lobby for the show’s cancellation and we caught a huge break with the Winter Olympics which sucked the viewership from every network including FOX. Facing plummeting ratings, FOX stopped broadcasting at episode 18 in mid-Feb 2014 and the the last episode was broadcast on Hulu in July.

There are more shows to roll out later in the year but this is what we have so far for 2014-15: at least 22 network TV programs with 33 #AAPI stars or co-stars this season (in brackets, the show’s #AAPI actors and 18-49 ranking out of 109 TV shows for week #21):
